Wontons
« on: August 10, 2017, 12:01:37 AM »
Hi All,
Got some of that Lee won ton soup base mix from the Asian Grocer.
So I made up some pork wontons (got the wrappers from coles) and simmered them in the soup mix.
They turned out really nice :).
Next time I might try deep frying them in the Wok,see how that goes. I am also going to use it when I make fried rice next.

cheers

 :)

I'd like the recipe as well. It struck me when I read your post that whilst I'll often eat wontons, either when out or keep a pack in the freezer but I've never actually made them.

My local Coles that I was at today is not very large, they did not have the wrappers but I know my favorite Asian supermarket does so will pick some up next time I'm there :)

Cheers

Recipe:
Added a thumbnail size piece of ginger to the boiling lee's mix.
The Wontons :
A pinch of salt and white pepper, 25 tsp of Pork mince,2 tsp cornflour, 2 tbls finely chopped shallots near the base, 1 tbls of ketjap mannis (because I love it). A 1/2 tsp of Chinese five spice.

When I placed the cooked Wontons in a bowl, I then added 1 roughly chopped Bok Choy to the pot of lee's wonton soup mix to wilt, and poured over the wontons.

Smokey was right, that lee's is good stuff ;D.

cheers.........Aristos

Ps.....25 Wonton wrappers in a pack at Coles.

Like a rash  ;D
We never seem to make them the same. Though I do mix pork and prawn meat often.
This one ^^^ is new and interesting to me Aristos,,, Its going to get a wirl.  Glad you like the soup mix. If you don't read the ingredient list, and have it only every now and then,,, The facial ticks shouldn't be such a problem really.  :o  :P
